  • Concurrent Breakout #1: Mental Health Parity Outlook and Strategies for 2025

Concurrent Breakout #1: Mental Health Parity Outlook and Strategies for 2025

David Shillcutt, JD, Epstein Becker Green

Regulatory policy and enforcement are shifting rapidly in the Trump Administration, but the statutory requirements of the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA) are unlikely to change under the current Congress. Access challenges also persist for consumers seeking mental health and substance use disorder (MH/SUD) services. What are the priorities and best practices that health plans should focus on for mental health parity compliance in 2025?

  • Concurrent Breakout #2: : IRA, 340B and High Impact Drugs - Mitigating Strategies Across Lines of Business

Concurrent Breakout #2: : IRA, 340B and High Impact Drugs - Mitigating Strategies Across Lines of Business

    Mina Allo, Managing Director, Avalere
    Emily Donaldson, Principal, Avalere
    Margaret Scott, Principal, Avalere

The Inflation Reduction Act has brought significant changes to the Medicare Part D and B space - including changes to Part D redesign, capping out of pocket for beneficiaries, and directly negotiating drugs with manufacturers. This, coupled with an increase in high impact medications, has resulted in increased pressure to plan sponsors and has had an indirect effect across other lines of business and other government programs like 340B. Manufacturer adjustments based on recent federal policies including the IRA are spilling into Medicaid, including pricing strategy and pipeline changes, prompting Medicaid agencies to adjust strategies an asking health plans to conform. How plans can create strategies to mitigate the growth in plan liability and high impact drugs, while remaining competitive, will be discussed during this session.
